Sequence and event prediction has been one of the most directly applicable forms of Machine learning in real world environments. Just in financial services event prediction has been applied to tasks ranging from predicting the markets, to predicting customer actions. This talk will be focused on the methods and approaches to framing an event prediction task. The talk will highlight how to deal with tasks that have long sequence lengths, and asynchronous events.
Janahan Ramanan is an Applied Research Lead at Borealis AI. His team focuses on sequence learning and event prediction in real world scenarios. Janahan has a Masters in applied sciences from the University of Toronto. Previous experience includes Machine Learning engineer at Google, and a co-founder for indoor location services company Smart Indoor.
