As an increasing number of bots come to market, we’re challenged to personify virtual characters and assistants to create experiences that audiences want to continually engage with. But true character cannot be algorithmically derived. As the platform behind bots for Activision’s Call of Duty, Marvel’s Doctor Strange, and Amazon’s The Grand Tour that have dominated Messenger, Skype and Alexa respectively, Pullstring has demonstrated that we need expressive, professional tools to make convincing computer conversation. Oren Jacob, CEO and co-founder, PullString, will discuss how to approach the complexity of crafting computer conversation and the importance of having tools that are accessible enough for creative teams, but extensible enough for technical teams to bring the best conversational AI experiences to market.
Oren is CEO and co-founder of PullString. Prior, he was an Entrepreneur in Residence at August Capital and spent 20+ years at Pixar, most recently as CTO and Director of the Studio Tools group. His feature film credits include Toy Story, Toy Story 2, A Bug's Life, and Supervising Technical Director for Finding Nemo. Oren helped found Pixar University, taught animation at the Academy of Art College and teaches courses at Stanford, Berkeley, Columbia, and for the NSF. He plans to drop all of this in a heartbeat to become a pro snowboarder the minute that first sponsor shows up.
