AI Assistants and chatbots have the potential to redefine how clients interact with their financial institution. But, as is the case with other AI technologies, their implementation can easily upset processes and architectures that have been in place for decades. In this talk, I will present the driving forces behind the development of National Bank of Canada's dialogue system platform and our vision. In particular, I will explain why we chose to build our own platform based on open-source technologies by partnering with a local start-up, and the lessons we have learned along the way.
